husband and I took our first NCL cruise on the Star; destination Alaska. We opted for a balcony cabin and enjoyed the ocean breeze--we even left the sliding door open overnight a couple of times. We really enjoed the independence of Freestyle Cruising, although it may not be for everyone. We ate in several restaurant settings, at our own schedule, and found plenty of diversity. The food was good, the excursions were good and the entertainment was good. And since we were looking for a relaxing time together, not a lot of group activities, we had a great time. I think the activities were there -- we just didn't choose to play.
